whether you are a professional sportsperson, or a weekend warrior wanting to set a personal best, oxygen is the limiting factor in your sports performance.

when insufficient oxygen is delivered to your muscles, fatigue sets in.

airo altitude simulation training increases the volume of oxygen in your body as well as improving oxygen delivery to the muscles. the result is an ability to exercise for longer periods at a higher intensity.

when you meet with your airo consultant, an altitude simulation training program will be incorporated into your schedule to maximise high training load weeks, and to have your body peaking for your key events.

The benefits of altitude simulation training include:

  • Increased V02 max (max rate of oxygen usage)
  • Enhanced power output and speed
  • Improved strength and endurance
  • Increased exercise-till-exhaustion (ETE) time
  • Reduced recovery time after exertion
  • Decreased resting heart-rate and blood pressure
  • Diminished overall fatigue

each airo session is 40 minutes long and involves receiving alternate cycles of high altitude oxygen followed by sea-level oxygen. a base altitude fitness program of 15 days is required. it is recommended that you complete the base program on successive days.

the positive adaptations from the program can last for up to three months. we do recommend that you continue to have refresher courses every 4-6 weeks to maintain the benefits.

each refresher course is a 40 minute per day, five day program.

the full benefits of the program are experienced approximately 7-10 days after you complete the program. we recommend that you complete either your 15 day base program or you 5 day refresher program one week before your key event.
